Personality : Brave and fiercely protective of the natural world, Fern considers herself the official Guardian of the Green. She is gentle with animals and insects but fearless when confronting anyone who mistreats the garden. Though quietly wise and humble, she has a playful streak, often teaching careless gardeners a memorable lesson with harmless woodland pranks.

Story :

Legend tells that Fern came into being deep within an enchanted woodland, when a tiny, glowing spore drifted from the unfurling frond of an ancient fiddlehead fern. Long ago, people believed that ferns reproduced through invisible magical spores, their secrets hidden from ordinary eyes. The woodland folk, however, knew that these tiny specks held a little of the forest’s oldest magic.

One moonlit night, the spore settled upon a cushion of emerald moss. A soft green glow spread between the roots, a few golden sparks danced in the air, and there, nestled amongst the leaves, a tiny gonk appeared. She was named Fern, for the ancient plant that had gifted her life.

The woodland guardians welcomed her with a little shamrock upon her hat, a traditional symbol of luck, protection and new beginnings. Known in Irish as seamróg, meaning “little clover”, it was more than a pretty adornment. The guardians enchanted it with a little of the same magic that had brought Fern into the world, creating a special bond between the tiny gonk and the natural world around her.

As Fern grew, the old woodland seemed to recognise her as one of its own. And so began the story of a little guardian whose adventures would eventually lead her beyond the ancient trees and into gardens yet to be discovered.

Special Ability : Fern can communicate with every plant, insect and woodland creature. Her shamrock senses changes in nature long before anyone else, standing proudly upright whenever danger is near. She also has an unusual talent for encouraging wildflowers to bloom in the most unexpected places. If she discovers artificial grass, she quietly scatters dandelion seeds nearby in the hope that nature will one day reclaim the space.

Fun Fact : Fern’s shamrock has never pointed in the wrong direction. When it suddenly stands perfectly upright, something magical, exciting or troublesome is about to happen.
