Special ability : The ability to strip down mundane items (like a pocket watch, music box, or telescope) and rebuild them into temporary, single-use mechanical gadgets on the fly.
Story : Russell grew up in a village where every young gnome dreamed of building enormous windmills, waterwheels and steam-powered machines. But while everyone else thought bigger was better, Russell became fascinated by the tiniest moving parts. He spent his youth hidden away in old workshops, crafting clockwork beetles, spring-loaded lockpicks and miniature mechanical marvels from discarded scraps of brass, copper and steel.
Years later, his unusual talent earned him a reputation as the Fairy Realm’s greatest inventor of pocket-sized gadgets. Even Georgie, the Head Engineer, often calls upon Russell to create clever little tools that are simply too delicate for ordinary craftsmanship.
Need to retrieve a lost key from a mouse hole? Russell has a telescopic grabber for that. A fairy bridge has collapsed? He’ll deploy a self-building brace. Stuck atop a mushroom? Out comes a tiny clockwork ladder. Each invention is powered by a tiny spark of woodland magic and built for a single purpose. Once its task is complete, the magic gently fades, leaving the gadget to cheerfully rattle itself back into a handful of reusable parts.
Russell never goes anywhere without his well-worn satchel, its pockets overflowing with tiny springs, polished gears and curious little trinkets that everyone else has overlooked. He rarely walks in a straight line, often stopping to inspect an unusual pebble, an abandoned button or a shiny brass screw that might become the perfect piece for his next invention.
Russell believes every problem has a solution waiting to be invented. Wherever there’s a mystery to solve or an impossible task ahead, you’ll usually find him rummaging through his satchel with a grin, muttering, “I’ve just the thing…” Even if his latest invention only lasts a few moments, those few moments are often all that’s needed to save the day.
Favorite saying : “The smallest idea can build the greatest invention”
Quirk : He rarely walks anywhere in a straight line, constantly stopping to examine unusual pebbles, shiny screws or curious bits of moss that might become part of his next invention.
Little-known fact: Russell secretly names every one of his clockwork beetles before sending it on a mission, even though most only survive for a few minutes.
